The most common reasons pages need to go
- Blank backs of double-sided sheets picked up by an automatic feeder.
- Fax cover sheets and "this page intentionally left blank" filler.
- Internal pricing, notes or annexes that the recipient should not see.
- Duplicate pages from a scan that jammed and was re-fed.
Deleting is not redacting
Removing a page removes that page's content. It does not remove sensitive text on pages you keep — drawing a black box over text in a viewer leaves the text underneath selectable. For a genuinely unreadable result, delete the page, or convert the page to an image and rebuild the PDF from it.
Check the page count before and after
The single most common mistake is deleting the wrong page because the thumbnails were still loading. Note the page count before you start, subtract the number you intend to remove, and confirm the result matches before you download.
Where pagination is printed on the page itself, deleting pages leaves gaps in the numbering. If the document must read as a continuous bundle, add fresh page numbers after the deletion.
Deleting versus splitting
Deleting produces one document with fewer pages. Splitting produces several documents. If you want to keep both halves of a report, split it — deleting throws the removed pages away rather than saving them somewhere else.
